Horizen LLC ("Horizen," "we," "us," or "our") operates the horizenfilms.com website and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the Service.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share your information. Terms not defined here have the same meaning as in our Terms of Service.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and any other information you choose to provide during registration or in your profile settings, including profile photos or avatars you upload. Uploaded images are stored using our infrastructure provider (Supabase) and are accessible to other users who view your profile.

Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you access and use the Service, including your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, pages visited, time and date of visits, referring URLs, and other diagnostic data.

For signed-in users, we also collect activity data such as page view duration (how long you spend on each page) and session start events. This data is associated with your account and is used to understand engagement, improve the Service, and support internal analytics.

Tool and Assessment Data

When you use interactive tools or assessments on the Service (such as Brand MRI, Founder Personality, CFB Personality, or course completions), we collect and store your responses and the results generated from them. This data is tied to your account and is accessible through your profile. Assessment results may include scores, personality classifications, and other outputs derived from your inputs. Because this data may reveal behavioral or psychological characteristics, some jurisdictions may classify it as sensitive personal information. We process this data only because you voluntarily submit it through the Service.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain session state, remember your preferences (such as theme settings), and understand how the Service is used. You can instruct your browser to refuse cookies, but some features of the Service may not function properly without them.

We use session cookies to operate the Service, preference cookies to remember your settings, and security cookies for authentication and fraud prevention.

Communications

When you subscribe to our newsletter, submit a contact form, or communicate with us, we collect your email address, name, and the content of your message.

Payment Information

If you purchase paid services (courses, tools, or event access), payment processing is handled by third-party payment processors. We do not store your full credit card number or banking details. We may receive transaction identifiers, purchase amounts, and billing address from the payment processor.

We use the information we collect to: provide, operate, and maintain the Service; manage your account and deliver features you request; send transactional communications such as password resets, security alerts, and service updates; send newsletters and promotional materials when you have opted in, with the ability to unsubscribe at any time; monitor and analyze usage to improve the Service; detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical issues; comply with legal obligations; and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We use third-party services to operate the Service. These providers process your data on our behalf and are obligated to protect it. The key providers are:

Vercel

We use Vercel for hosting and deployment. Vercel processes HTTP requests to serve the Service, which means it has access to IP addresses, request headers, and other connection metadata. Vercel's privacy policy is available at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Cloudflare

We use Cloudflare for DNS and content delivery. Cloudflare sits between you and our servers, processing all traffic to provide security and performance optimization. Supabase

We use Supabase for data storage and authentication. Supabase stores account information, user-generated content, and other application data. Supabase's privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.

Resend

We use Resend to send transactional and marketing emails. Resend receives your email address and name to deliver messages on our behalf. Resend's privacy policy is available at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

We may use additional service providers for analytics, monitoring, or other operational purposes. These providers are selected based on their data protection practices and are contractually bound to use your data only for the services they provide to us.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We may disclose your information in the following circumstances: to service providers who process data on our behalf as described above; to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or governmental request; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Horizen LLC, our users, or the public; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case you will be notified of any change in ownership or control of your data.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy. Account information is retained for the duration of your account and deleted within 90 days of account closure, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Usage and activity data is retained for up to 24 months. Assessment results are retained for the life of your account and deleted when your account is closed.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data: the right to access the personal data we hold about you; the right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data; the right to request deletion of your personal data; the right to restrict or object to certain processing; the right to data portability; and the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Newsletter Opt-Out

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send. This does not affect transactional communications related to your account.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and maintained on servers located outside your jurisdiction, including in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your region. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this policy.

9. U.S. State Privacy Rights

If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, Montana, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have additional rights regarding your personal data, including: the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used; the right to request deletion of your personal data; the right to correct inaccurate data; the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Assessment data that may reveal behavioral or psychological characteristics is processed only based on your voluntary submission and is not sold or shared with third parties.

We recognize Global Privacy Control (GPC) and similar browser-based opt-out preference signals. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request for the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals, as there is no industry-standard protocol for DNT.

10. European Residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, our legal bases for processing your personal data include: performance of a contract (to provide the Service and manage your account); consent (for newsletter subscriptions and optional cookies); legitimate interests (for analytics, security, and Service improvement, where not overridden by your rights); and compliance with legal obligations.
